Baseball Recap: Great Bend Drops Highest Score of Season Against Garden City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Bend). They blew past the Garden City Buffaloes 17-4 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won seven in a row.

Daxton Minton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Great Bend got a massive performance out of Koehn Ribordy, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Ribordy has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Carson Umphres, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Great Bend's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Garden City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
