Baseball Recap: Sylvan-Lucas Comes Up Short

Sylvan-Lucas had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-7 to make it four. They lost 7-1 to the Ellis Railroaders. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Ellis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Railroaders, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Ellis' part, Ben Byers was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Byers was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chance Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aiden Aschenbrenner, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ellis beat Sylvan-Lucas by a score of 14-1 later that day.
