Basketball Recap: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Dunedin Falcons
The Pinellas Park Patriots came into Friday's game having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over Dunedin on Friday. The victory was just what Pinellas Park needed coming off of a 79-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
Dunedin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Laird, who scored 14 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Albert Mendez, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pinellas Park's victory ended a 20-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-19. As for Dunedin, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with that loss, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.
Pinellas Park will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wharton is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games. As for Dunedin, they will face off against the Knights at TBD on Tuesday. Robinson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 324 points over their last five games.
