Basketball Game Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Woodmore Wildcats

The Calvert Senecas will take on the Woodmore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Calvert is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 77-52 margin over Lakota on Saturday. The Senecas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

Logan Ritzler was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Wolph, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Calvert was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Woodmore came into Saturday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down St. Joseph Central Catholic 76-58 back in December of 2024.

Woodmore's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Calvert, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything went Calvert's way against Woodmore in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Calvert made off with a 61-39 win. Does Calvert have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodmore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
