Softball Recap: Alexander Finds Home Field Redemption Against Attica

There's no place like home for Alexander, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Attica Blue Devils on Tuesday. Considering the Trojans have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily Pietrzykowski made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Ella Felski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ava Yax, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Alexander's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Attica, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander will venture away from home to challenge Pembroke at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Attica, they will head out to take on Byron-Bergen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
