Baseball Recap: West Anchorage Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but West Anchorage ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Bettye Davis East Anchorage Thunderbirds. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jack Boots made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 7.2 innings pitched. Boots was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Paul Dittrich was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

West Anchorage's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for Bettye Davis East Anchorage, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, West Anchorage will square off against Service at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Bettye Davis East Anchorage, they will face off against South Anchorage at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Thunderbirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
