Volleyball Recap: Lecanto Takes a Loss

Lecanto extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 11-9. They lost 3-0 to The Villages Charter Buffalo. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffalo apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Devin Pulham paced Lecanto's offense, picking up six kills. Pulham were helped by Amelia Ebert and Peterson Coral, who contributed eight assists each. Ebert and Coral didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

As for The Villages Charter, they moved to 10-11 with that win, which also ended their five-match losing streak. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

The Villages Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saylah Childers, who had six digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Childers a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Alexa Taylor, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Lecanto has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Crystal River on the 30th. As for The Villages Charter, they will be playing at home against Foundation Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
