Basketball Recap: Mccutcheon Beats Danville for Their Fourth Straight Win

McCutcheon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They took down the Danville Warriors 76-58. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

McCutcheon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Pritzel, who went 13 of 18 en route to 30 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Pritzel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Baker, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists.

McCutcheon was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Danville had strong showings from Jace Scrafton, who posted 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, and Elijah Tricker, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and five boards. Tricker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Ward, who scored seven points.

McCutcheon pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Danville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

McCutcheon and Danville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. McCutcheon will take on Seeger at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st up 215 places (79 vs. 294). McCutcheon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Danville (ranked 151st) will meet Western Boone (ranked 353rd) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
