Baseball Game Preview: Meadowdale Lions vs. Mechanicsburg Indians

The Meadowdale Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Mechanicsburg Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meadowdale has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Meadowdale is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Belmont on Wednesday. They lost 17-2 to the Bison.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Greenon with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Conner Eyink made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mechanicsburg let Matthew Davis and Eli Wilson run wild. Davis went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Wilson scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Ritchie, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mechanicsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenon only posted an OBP of .160.

Meadowdale now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mechanicsburg, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
