Football Recap: Fitch Falcons vs. Ledyard Colonels

After flying high against Stonington two weeks ago, Fitch came back down to earth. The Fitch Falcons took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ledyard Colonels. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Even though they lost, Fitch was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Anthony Adamick and Calvin Casavant. Adamick rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns while Casavant rushed for 36 yards. An impressive showing, but Casavant really ramped things up playing D: he forced a fumble and made four total tackles.

Fitch dropped their record down to 5-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Ledyard, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Fitch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ledyard, they will head out on the road to challenge Windham at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ledyard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.6 points per game this season.
