Basketball Game Preview: Tidewater Academy Warriors vs. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights

The Tidewater Academy Warriors will head out to take on the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Tidewater Academy came up short against Brunswick Academy on Friday, falling 39-18. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot). Everything went their way against Kenston Forest on Friday as Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot made off with a 62-41 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted since December 8, 2023.

Tidewater Academy better focus on containing Molly Hamner and Addison Dowdy as the pair were huge in Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's win. Hamner went 12 for 28 on her way to 33 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds, while Dowdy posted 14 points along with eight boards and eight steals. With that strong performance, Hamner is now averaging an impressive 16.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dowdy, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Tidewater Academy's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Tidewater Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 48-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tidewater Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
