Basketball Recap: South Shelby Takes a Loss

South Shelby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Canton Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Tigers are ranked 39th).

Preston Brewer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Canton, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Brewer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bleu Taylor, who posted seven points and six boards.

South Shelby's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Canton, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

South Shelby and Brookfield will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mendon Unity at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
