Football Recap: Hillcrest's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Hillcrest's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Cyprus Pirates 42-20. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

K'Von Houston had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 368 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 59 yards on only five carries. What's more, he racked up 135.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Hillcrest's leading receiver Grady Court was Houston's top target yet again, picking up 181 receiving yards and one TD.

With the victory, Hillcrest broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6. As for Cyprus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hillcrest will challenge Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cyprus, they will square off against Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Wolverines' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
