Softball Recap: Simi Valley Triumphs

Simi Valley hadn't done well against Valencia recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pioneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Vikings. For the Pioneers, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2025.

Simi Valley got a great performance from Parker Ong as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Ong has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hayden Chang was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Bella Voorhees also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Simi Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Simi Valley's record is now 6-2-1. As for Valencia, they moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Simi Valley has already played their next matchup (against Agoura), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Valencia, they will be playing at home against Buena at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
