Softball Game Preview: Morgan Academy Senators vs. Jackson Academy Eagles

The Morgan Academy Senators will challenge the Jackson Academy Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Morgan Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over Fort Dale Academy.

Meanwhile, Jackson Academy entered their tilt with Snook Christian Academy on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Snook Christian Academy an 8-0 shutout. Jackson Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Lily Reeves made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Tessa Elmore and Maygan Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Elmore went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Williams went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Williams a new career-high. Skylar Chancey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Jackson Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jackson Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Morgan Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
