Softball Recap: Bellingham Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Bellingham never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Ashland on Friday. They came out on top against the Clockers by a score of 11-8. The victory continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Clockers: they've now won three in a row.

Jacobi Houston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Kaleigh Simpson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ashley Kamin, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

Bellingham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bellingham's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ashland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Bellingham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against Hopkinton on the 7th. As for Ashland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-2 defeat against Norton on the 5th.
