Basketball Recap: Chief Ivan Blunka Comes Up Short

After flying high against Togiak on Friday, Chief Ivan Blunka came back down to earth. The Chief Ivan Blunka Eagles were dealt a 78-43 loss at the hands of the Manokotak Lynx on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lynx: they've now lost seven in a row.

Leading Manokotak to victory were Jethron Nanalook and Nevaeh Gloko. Nanalook posted 25 points, while Gloko scored 22 points. The match was Nanalook's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Alakayak, who put up nine points.

Chief Ivan Blunka's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Manokotak, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Chief Ivan Blunka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-44 defeat against Bristol Bay on the 1st. As for Manokotak, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-54 win against Togiak on the 1st.
