Baseball Recap: Washington Wins High-Profile Game Against Hedgesville

Washington faced Hedgesville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Patriots came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-6. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Eagles on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-4 defeat.

Brayden Edwards was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Connor Smith also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Washington lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Hedgesville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.
