Baseball Game Preview: Wellington Skyrockets vs. Quanah Indians

The Wellington Skyrockets will square off against the Quanah Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Wellington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Wellington needed a bit of extra time to put away Clarendon. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Broncos 11-9. The Skyrockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Quanah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Clarendon.

Austin Whitmire made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Mikey Floyd was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Wellington pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Quanah, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Wellington beat Quanah 7-3 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Skyrockets repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
