Recap: Sunnyvale vs. Gilmer Buckeyes

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for Sunnyvale, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of the Buckeyes by a score of 41-38. Sunnyvale's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Sunnyvale still got an impressive performance from Nelson Peterson jr, who rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Will Henderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gilmer, rushing for 203 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Henderson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Cadon Tennison was another key contributor, throwing for 216 yards and a touchdown.

Sunnyvale's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Gilmer, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Sunnyvale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gilmer will square off against Aubrey at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Aubrey has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last four games.
