Soccer Recap: Wakefield Comes Up Short

Wakefield's game on Monday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Heritage Huskies by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for Wakefield in their meetings with Heritage: they've now lost eight in a row.

Wakefield's goal came courtesy of Mallory Stroud, who's now up to eight this season.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-3. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-1-6 record this season.

Wakefield and Heritage should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Wolverines will face off against Knightdale at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (74 vs. 382). Meanwhile, Heritage (ranked 14th) will meet Rolesville (ranked 132nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
