Baseball Recap: Heritage's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

There's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Anthony Happ spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Heritage will square off against Arcola at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, they will take on Argenta-Oreana at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
