Softball Game Preview: Richlands Blue Tornado vs. Grundy Golden Wave

For the second straight game, Richlands will face off against Grundy. Richlands will take on Grundy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Richlands' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Grundy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Richlands had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Grundy on Wednesday. Richlands never let Grundy get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Blue Tornado's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Averi Fuller made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justice Hill, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Alli Hale was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Richlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Grundy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Richlands, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
