Football Recap: Poway Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Poway blew Mount Miguel out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Mount Miguel got their revenge. The Titans fell just short of the Matadors by a score of 35-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Titans have suffered since August 23, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Poway lost, don't look at Luke Jorgensen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. Jorgensen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Eli Alsop helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Jeremiah Loper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mount Miguel, throwing for 333 yards and five TDs while picking up 14.5 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 44 yards. Those five passing touchdowns gave Loper a new career-high. Mount Miguel's leading receiver Aj Logan was Loper's top target yet again, picking up 63 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Poway's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Mount Miguel, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poway will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on El Camino at 7:15 p.m. on October 3. As for Mount Miguel, they will face off against Oceanside at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 947 yards in their previous games.
