Basketball Game Preview: Valley Christian Vikings vs. Redwood Christian Eagles

The Valley Christian Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Redwood Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Valley Christian is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They secured a 61-55 W over Contra Costa Christian on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Redwood Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They took down the Warriors 72-57. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Warriors are ranked 584th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valley Christian better focus on containing Nehemiah Mitchell and David Rogers as the pair were huge in Redwood Christian's win. Mitchell went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and five steals, while Rogers dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The match was Rogers' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Garrett Hubbard was another key player, putting up four points along with eight boards and eight blocks.

Redwood Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Everything went Valley Christian's way against Redwood Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Valley Christian made off with a 64-44 win.
