Recap: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Arvada West Wildcats
In what's become a running theme this season, the Ralston Valley Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They put the hurt on Arvada West with a sharp 58-36 win. With Ralston Valley ahead 43-16 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Ralston Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammi Madden, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Kailey Townsend was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Arvada West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malorie Byrne. Despite the final result, she scored nine points.
Ralston Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Arvada West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
Ralston Valley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Lakewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Ralston Valley is ranked 20th). As for Arvada West, they will play host again and welcome Monarch, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday.
