Softball Recap: Declo Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Declo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the American Falls Beavers 5-4. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Makendrie Harris spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 23 Ks. Those 23 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alayna Wageman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Shayli Stevens also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Declo's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for American Falls, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Declo will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Beavers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
