Basketball Game Preview: Manning Monarchs vs. Marion Swamp Foxes

The Manning Monarchs will challenge the Marion Swamp Foxes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Manning comes in on nine and Marion on four.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Manning beat Mullins 57-53.

Manning relied on the efforts of Taivon Carter, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks, and Lovell Stevenson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Carter is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lovon Stevenson, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Manning smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mullins only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Marion didn't have too much trouble with South Florence on Saturday as they won 64-47. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Swamp Foxes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Bruins are ranked 29th).

Manning pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Marion, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
