Basketball Recap: Karina Vasquez Key Part of a Team Effort in Hawks Win

Harlan won the last time they faced Taft and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Harlan Hawks' way against the Taft Raiders as the Harlan Hawks made off with a 59-33 victory. With that win, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Harlan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karina Vasquez, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jaliyah Graham, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Harlan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Mariella Harper and Alcy Lavigne certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Harper earned nine points, while Lavigne had seven points.

The victory got Harlan back to even at 14-14. As for Taft, they dropped their record down to 10-23 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

When Harlan and Taft next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Harlan will try to stop Warren's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Taft will challenge Brennan and their four-game winning streak at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
