Baseball Recap: St. Bonaventure Gets the Win

St. Bonaventure was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Foothill Tech Dragons.

Jason De La Paz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Ricky Estrada looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for St. Bonaventure: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luc Beauchemin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

St. Bonaventure's record is now 8-6. As for Foothill Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

St. Bonaventure will square off against Castaic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Coyotes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Seraphs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Foothill Tech, they will face off against Thacher at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
