The Susquenita Blackhawks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past James Buchanan 48-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Susquenita, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Derek Gibney, who threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Gibney is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Gibney, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Susquenita's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for James Buchanan, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Susquenita will head out on the road to face off against Juniata at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Juniata will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. James Buchanan will take on Newport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newport comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
