Football Game Preview: Pearl River Rebels vs. Chalmette Owls

The Pearl River Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Chalmette Owls at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Pearl River's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Pine on Friday. They were dealt a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Raiders. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chalmette). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Booker T. Washington 53-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Owls considering their six-point performance the contest before.

One reason for the win was Chalmette's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tyray Darensburg, Yasha Miller, and Vicenzo Carvalho, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

Pearl River now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Chalmette, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Pearl River beat Chalmette 14-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
