Basketball Game Preview: Brea Olinda Wildcats vs. Irvine Vaqueros

Brea Olinda is 0-3 against Irvine since December of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will take on the Vaqueros in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Brea Olinda saw some tournament action on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 80-57 margin over Calvary Chapel. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Logan Severson had an outrageously good game as he shot 71% from beyond the arc en route to 30 points. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Brysen Byrnes, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Irvine got the win against Rancho Alamitos on Monday by a conclusive 55-32. The win continues a trend for Irvine in their matchups with Rancho Alamitos: they've now won four in a row.

Brea Olinda's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Irvine, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Brea Olinda might still be hurting after the 60-38 defeat they got from Irvine in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
