Soccer Game Preview: Spearfish vs. St. Thomas More

Spearfish is on a three-game streak of home losses, and St. Thomas More a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Spearfish Spartans will welcome the St. Thomas More Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Spearfish has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spearfish managed to slip by Rapid City Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Spartans came up short against the Cobblers on Saturday, falling 7-2.

Two must be St. Thomas More's lucky number: they beat Douglas with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Cavaliers had just enough and edged out the Patriots 2-1. St. Thomas More haven't had any issues with Douglas recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Spearfish's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1. As for St. Thomas More, their win bumped their record up to 4-6-1.

Everything went Spearfish's way against St. Thomas More in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Spearfish made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
