Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

If Fairfield was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Foothill on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons fell just short of the Armijo Royals by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Fairfield sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 14-25, 15-10.

Lili Yadao was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave her a new career-high. Chloe Fondersmith also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Fairfield's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Armijo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Fairfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Valley on the 8th. As for Armijo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Johnson on the 8th.
