Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Takes a Loss

Ponderosa was the 49-47 winner over Bella Vista when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ponderosa Bruins lost 62-42 to the Bella Vista Broncos on Tuesday. The Bruins just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Bella Vista was led to victory by Mark Otrotsyuk and Maxwell Prucher. Otrotsyuk went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points and five steals, while Prucher went 7 of 15 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance also gave Prucher a new career-high in blocks (two). Jonah Wooden was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Ponderosa's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Bella Vista, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

Ponderosa and Bella Vista could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Ponderosa (ranked 798th) will meet Christian Brothers (ranked 99th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. Meanwhile, Bella Vista (ranked 728th) will meet Rio Americano (ranked 130th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
