Baseball Recap: Keene Victorious

Keene won the last time they faced Goffstown and things went their way on Saturday too. The Blackbirds walked away with a 4-1 win over the Grizzlies.

Fitch Hennessey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Keene is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Keene's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden French, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Keene's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Goffstown, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Keene will challenge rival Portsmouth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Goffstown is set to face off against their familiar foe Bedford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 3.5, the Bulldogs 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
