Baseball Recap: Seven Lakes Wins Going Away Against Mayde Creek

Seven Lakes got themselves on the board against Mayde Creek on Thursday, but Mayde Creek never followed suit. They blew past the Rams 12-0. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

James Levin tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Seven Lakes got a massive performance out of Tyler Sims, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave Sims a new career-high. Conner Brinson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Seven Lakes has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mayde Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-20-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seven Lakes will take on Morton Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mayde Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Katy at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
