Basketball Recap: Westfield Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mackenzie Schumaker and Reagan Weingart

If Westfield was feeling good fresh off their 59-26 takedown of Silver Creek last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westfield Wolverines took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwestern Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-37 back in December of 2024.

Westfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Reagan Weingart, who posted 11 points and six rebounds, and Mackenzie Schumaker, who earned ten points. The dominant performance gave Weingart a new career-high in points. Olivia Wolfe was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Southwestern, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Westfield nor Southwestern have any future games scheduled.
