Basketball Recap: Wickliffe Takes a Loss

Wickliffe was the 45-42 winner over Hawken when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wickliffe Blue Devils fell 40-31 to the Hawken Hawks on Monday. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hawks 12-7 in the first quarter.

Sarah Liu had an outrageously good game for Hawken as she went 6 of 12 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Liu a new career-high in field goal percentage (50%). Cami Courtad was another key player, putting up five points and 12 boards.

Wickliffe's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-11. As for Hawken, their win bumped their record up to 3-19.

Wickliffe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hawken, they will take on St. Vincent-St. Mary in a tournament on Saturday. St. Vincent-St. Mary has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
