Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Tigers vs. Leggett Pirates

The Trinity Tigers will challenge the Leggett Pirates on Thursday. Trinity knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Leggett likes a good challenge.

Trinity took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-49 victory over Rusk.

Meanwhile, Leggett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Wells, falling 84-32. While losing is never fun, Leggett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1349th, while Wells is ranked 450th).

Trinity pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Leggett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Trinity didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Leggett in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
