Basketball Recap: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Lincoln Southeast Knights

The Bellevue West Thunderbirds had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over Lincoln Southeast. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Bellevue West also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Bellevue West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Melcher out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Melcher posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Ahnica Russell-brown, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Bellevue West is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Lincoln Southeast, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
