Baseball Recap: Hopewell Valley Central Takes a Loss

Allentown hit Hopewell Valley Central with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redbirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Hopewell Valley Central got a good showing from Nate Gross, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Chase Garrow was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Jaykob Shin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hopewell Valley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for Allentown, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell Valley Central will take on Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Allentown, they will challenge Hun at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
