Softball Game Preview: Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

The Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack are taking a road trip to take on the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Saint Ignatius College Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Saint Ignatius College Prep came up short against St. Francis and fell 4-1. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Saint Ignatius College Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

IC Catholic Prep couldn't beat Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Knights lost 12-4 to the Chargers. Surprisingly, this marked the Knights' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lexi Russ made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for IC Catholic Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saint Ignatius College Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Saint Ignatius College Prep couldn't quite finish off IC Catholic Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
