Volleyball Preview: Bloomfield Cardinals vs. Maplewood Rockets
Bloomfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will head out to challenge the Maplewood Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maplewood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bloomfield, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Bloomfield made easy work of Varsity Opponent and carried off a 3-0 win.
While Bloomfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 26-24, 25-16.
Bloomfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tessa Gwinn out in front who had 11 digs, seven kills, and six aces. That's the most aces Gwinn has posted since back in September of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Doll, who had 19 digs and three kills.
Bloomfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Maplewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against Cardinal, falling 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
Bloomfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. As for Maplewood, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
