Basketball Recap: Byrd Takes a Loss

If Byrd was feeling good fresh off their 41-7 takedown of Loyola College Prep last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Byrd Yellow Jackets were dealt a 56-26 defeat at the hands of the Stanley Panthers on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Stanley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Byrd and Stanley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. Byrd (ranked 1300th) will meet Woodlawn-Shreveport (ranked 242nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Stanley will take on Weston at 5:00 p.m. on Friday down 140 places (220 vs. 80).
