Softball Recap: Cedar Grove-Belgium Takes a Loss

Cedar Grove-Belgium extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 14-0 to the Random Lake Rams. The Rockets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Random Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games.

For Random Lake's part, Ava Daggett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Daggett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laila Sanders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Klein, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

While Cedar Grove-Belgium had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
