The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Creighton Prep Junior Jays at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Lincoln Southwest put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. Everything went their way against Kearney as they made off with a 14-8 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Silver Hawks.
Ty Phillips was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Caison Seymore, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Lincoln Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Creighton Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 27-1 margin over the Bears. That looming 27-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Junior Jays yet this season.
Evan Thompson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Thompson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Nolan Going looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Creighton Prep got a massive performance out of Cal Anthony, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Bo Reverts was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Lincoln Southwest's record now sits at 14-9. As for Creighton Prep, their record is now 13-11.
