Softball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Anaheim Colonists

The Whitney Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Anaheim Colonists at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitney challenged Cabrillo on Wednesday. Whitney put the hurt on Cabrillo with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Amaya Dugal made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Dugal was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Whitney let Navya Manni and Ella Nelson run wild. Manni scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Nelson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Nelson posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Ashley Aranda was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Anaheim put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Pioneer by a score of 4-1.

Cristina Guillen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Taylor Falt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Anaheim kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Whitney's record now sits at 2-0. As for Anaheim, their record is now 4-0.
