It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Washington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bronx High School of Science Wolverines, sneaking past 11-10. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Washington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Bronx High School of Science, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

Coming up, Washington will take on Morris at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bronx High School of Science, they are taking a road trip to take on South Bronx at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Phoenix's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wolverines' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
